During the Final Major Project last year, I had decided to make an Indian fashion magazine named Ghunghat. The reason I had chosen to do this was that I felt extremely comfortable in the digital pathway and I was really interested in fashion and Indian fashion. This year I plan to create an advertising campaign for a bunch of different Jordan shoes.
In this reflection, I will be evaluating how well I had done in my year 12 Final Major Project. This would be helpful to reflect on because if I am to do something like that, I could improve on the elements that were and why not done well.
The most successful element of this project was my use of research. I had extensive research which help me to understand and develop the size, codes, and conventions of a magazine, and even understand the brands that are included in my magazine. This research resulted in my digital product looking more like other magazines that are already out in the market. Overall, the research was the strongest part of my year 12 Final Major Project as it allowed me to produce a more detailed magazine with different information about varied brands. During my current project, I will do my research over 2 to 3 weeks as this will allow me to gather detailed research before proceeding as it will widen my knowledge in the process, market and techniques needed to produce my project.
As well as my research, another successful element of my project was my practical skills, shown throughout the magazine. During the project last year, I had missed a lot of opportunities due to COVID-19. This led to me having to collect assets online and even having to learn a software like Adobe InDesign. To learn how to use InDesign I watched a lot of tutorials on YouTube and even asked some digital professionals for help. After getting used to the software I started to make a template which was used to create my final magazine. Even though I have a high grade for the section one thing I would like to do better this time is the collect my own assets.
Whilst I was working on my final project last year one of my weakness was not being able to keep to my project timeline, I kept on going ahead of it leaving me with three weeks spare with no work to do. This time round I will try to make a timetable which I know I can stick to. Furthermore, if I require to collect my own assets, I think I may need more time to do so, leaving me to make a time table that suits my activities during the Final Major Project.
Overall, I personally done well in the year 12 Final Major Project. However, there are still somethings I would change about my work, such as the layout of the magazine to make it look smoother to the eye and changing the way the images are labelled and referenced.
