University or Not

There are lots of people that think going to universities will offer them a good career after their major is completed. During the Higher Education Program, they get to gain skills and knowledge to build their future employment prospects. Even though going to university may sound like a good idea it may not be something you would want to do. 

Before you start to applying for uni you may want to consider the pros and cons of going to university before making your decision. 

Pros 

Develop skills going to uni can help you develop the skills and knowledge in the field you aspire to be known in. Universities give students skills that can help the employability compared to candidates who have not acquired these transferable skills.

Meeting new  people whilst going to uni you always get to meet new people from many different places. You can makes friends and also you can make connections with people you share similar experiences. 

Increase your earning potential having a degree can increase your earning potential even though the amount of salary you receive depends on the work field you’re in and your experience in that field. You have a better chance of getting a promotion and climd the career chain. 

Job opportunities there are many companies that partner with well known universities and head hunt intern and employees from these universities. This opens many job opportunities to students.

Cons 

Expensive universities are known to be expensive ; you have to pay a high tuition fee and even accommodation money if you attend a university far from home, and even spend money for other expenses like food. 

May not gain experience most uni courses teach you a lot of theory and, therefore, you may not get much practical experience in the subject you’re studying. 

Intensive workload attending numerous lectures, seminars, and independent study can be hard to keep up with. It’s up to each student to complete their own work load and should commit to a certain amount of time toward their studies. 

Higher lifetime earning with an apprenticeship people who have a level 5 or even a higher apprenticeship tend to earn more money in a lifetime than a uni student. 

Swimming in debts having to take student loans to pay for high tuition fees and many other expenses stay with you with a lot of debt by the time you complete you studies.
