For the interactive mapping project I decided to have the front of the stores as the hotspot markers. To get some inspiration I decided to go online and look at some some styles of illustrational maps and designs I can use. I want to make a map with good quality of art that is memorising when you look at it and still have it look professional, rather than having a traditional map that has signs for optimising for efficiency.

The images above show the style of of what I want the hotspot marks to look like. The photographs I have took when I was gone to Bond Street will be used to help to create the icons.
Sketches

I drew some rough sketches for the map and the thumbnails that would show where each store is located and when you click on it I would do something like opening the store webpage. The process of of making these sketches was really simple I just looked at the photos I took from when I went to London and drew what I could see. I personally think the sketches look really good and even when it comes to making the real thumbnails that I’m using on the actual map I would be keeping them really simple this is because if I draw a lot of details it the map reader may not be able to see them as the icons are gonna be small.
Colour Schemes

For my map, I would wish to use a warm, mature and muted colour scheme so that it feels comfortable and gives it that luxury, silky feel. To get this, type of colour scheme I decided to go to Adobe Colour and started to create some colour swatches that I believe would convey the luxury feeling I was looking for. For the first three swatches I decided to work with a colour swatch that I am comfortable with being a beige analogous colours and shades of a beige however, I thought this would be easy to work with and I won’t be challenging myself.
So I decided to go online and look at some luxury colours that brands use in their work one colour pallet that really stood out to me was the Cartier colour scheme (Colour Scheme D). This colour scheme stood out as it still had the beige that I am comfortable using and it also has a new colour, the red and the dark red, which complements the beige.
